Lesson 4 · History
In the summer of 1291, representatives from the valley communities of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden met on the Rütli meadow. Their mutual oath to stand together in disputes is considered the symbolic founding moment of the Swiss Confederation. The charter, written in Latin, is now displayed at the Bundesbriefmuseum in Schwyz.
Question 14 of 525
Answer: A — The 1291 Federal Charter is regarded as the founding document of the Old Swiss Confederacy.
